MISSING NANCY DREW By Caroline Keene

Are you the type of person who goes for those mysterious action impact stories? Well if you are, then this story is for you! This book is about a detective named Nancy Drew and she has three best friends named, Bess, Ned, and Georgia. At the beginning of the story Bess, Ned, and Georgia went to meet Nancy at a diner but Nancy never showed up. So they called her cell phone on a pay phone and she never picked up. Upon returning to Nancy’s house they found the cleaning lady and Nancy’s dad. They asked if Nancy had stopped by, but she hadn’t so they looked for clues in Nancy’s room. Her cell phone and clothes that she was going to wear that day for a date were in the closet. After finding these facts, Bess, Ned, and Georgia jumped in the car to go look for Nancy because perhaps she was going to investigate a case at the museum. They were thinking that this was a case that they needed Nancy to help with, but they needed to find her first. Was Nancy found? Read the book to find out the rest and by the way, my favorite part was when Georgia, Ned, and Bess were looking for clues in Nancy’s room.

JERRY FINK AND THE MEANING OF LIFE By Wendy Mass

Did you ever think about what the meaning of life was? Well Jeremy Fink and his best friend Lizzy definitely were interested. The story is very complicated but I will briefly tell you about it. Jeremy and Lizzy have been best friends since they could remember. One day when they were coming back to their apartment, they found the mailman with a package for them. When they got the package they were interested of what was inside so they just had to open it. When they did, there was a wooden box that was beautifully made. On the box in carved letters was written, FOR JEREMY FINK TO OPEN ON HIS 13TH BIRTHDAY, CONTAINS THE MEANING OF LIFE. When his mom got home, he asked her where the box came from and she was very surprised to see that the box was there in the first place. When she explained, Lizzy and Jeremy asked why his dad who had died years ago would make such a box for him and where the keys are to open the box. The problem was that his dad's good friend the one who had the box all these years had lost the keys. Read this great book to see if Jeremy finds out what his dad had put in this box to explain what the meaning of life is, and why he did it in the first place.

BEFORE I DIE By Jenny Downham

The book Before I Die is an amazing book the main character is Tessa. Tessa is sick she has cancer and doctors never expected to get worse and it's quicker than anyone thought. When she figures that out she decides to make a list of ten things she wants to do and some of the things are risky and others are unbelievable. Tessa wouldn't do the list alone so she got her friend Zoey to help her with the list. Even though she was doing the list that doesn't mean that she still didn't have her illness she would have to go to the hospital for fainting or she would get blood tests and have to see the doctors. This would sometimes affect her from doing the list. My favorite part was when Tessa and her dad were having a nice moment and it really touch my heart. Would she be able to finish the list before she dies? Would the doctors be able to cure Tessa before it's too late or would Tessa not make it and die? If you want to know what happens I recommend you to read Before I Die and found out what happens to Tessa.

DRAGON'S EGG By Sarah L.Thomson

Small dragons, large dragons, and some in between, Mella Evasdaughter knows them all in the book Dragon’s Egg by Sarah L. Thomson. Mella is an ordinary girl who picks dragon eggs every morning for the Inn where she lived, but when she is left to save a dragon egg she takes a journey and has many adventures. She accompanied by Roger the squire. To know what happened along the journey you have to read the book, but my favorite part was when Mella and Robert were kidnapped. They had been kidnapped by a cruel, lying, man named Alain, but Mella and Robert were both worried about the egg more than themselves because of the fact that it had to be put in fire every night or it would die. After Alain warned them that he was a light sleeper and fell asleep, Mella and Robert started to gnaw at the cord tying their wrists together. Mella and Robert were doing very well until the sound of dragons woke him up. He noticed that Robert was gnawing at the cord so he reacted by tightly tying his wrists together behind his back. The dragons around them attacked Alain causing him to get bitten on the hand and behind his knee and gave Mella and Robert a chance to escape. Once the dragons had left, Mella and Robert burned everything he was selling (which was all stolen) and then hit him in the head with a wooden board causing him to fall unconscious and was then tied with his injuries were wrapped in cloth. Mella and Robert had a lot of endurance, so I would recommend it to people who want to find out what happened to the egg.

MANIAC MAGEE By Jerry Spinelli

If you like drama and adventure then this is the book for you. Jeffrey Lionel Magee was living the normal life until a drunk driver caused a huge trolley accident. His parents got killed in the crash. Magee had to move to Hollidaysburg to live with his aunt and uncle. He got tired of his aunt and uncle fighting all the time so he ran away. He ran two hundred miles in one day and that’s how he earned his nickname Maniac. Maniac was looking for a home so a family named the Beales took him in. Amanda Beale loved to read so she shared books with Jeffrey. The Beales were a loving and kind family but they were black and Maniac was white. There was prejudice and racism between the east and west sides of town. Maniac met Mars Bar Thompson and they had an understanding, but they didn’t speak much. They had respect for each other. My favorite part of the book is Maniac’s leadership. Maniac seems to outfox kids. Will Maniac ever find a home? Read the book to find out!

THE VAMPIRE By Darran Shan

A freak show stayed by a clearing near the banks of a river in the countryside. In this freak shows are: Evra, Darren, Mr. Crepsly, and the Wolf Man. There are many more characters like: Little Men, Michael, Danny, Hans Hands, Truska, Mr. Tall, Rhamus, Mr. Tiny and a lot more! The main problem of this story is that Reggie, a regular man becomes friends with Darren, a vampire. Reggie is all about Nature and animals, so when Reggie found out that the freak show kept the Wolf Man locked up, he set him free at the cost of his hands. This was also my favorite part. Friendship plays a very important role in “The Vampire’s Assistant”. If Darren hadn’t become friends with Evra, Sam, and Reggie, who knows what else could have happened? Another event is when Sam saves Darren’s life and in return, wants to join the freak show, which he can’t do. When Darren said no, Sam tried to stow away at the freak show but the freed Wolf Man spotted him and chased him into the woods toward an abandoned train station. Darren the vampire comes to the rescue, but can he save him? To find out what happened, you must read this book, I would highly recommend this book to all readers.

Another problem is that Tina’s friend Ruby is trying to steal Willa’s crush Joseph. Willa needs to rethink her strategy in time to go to the dance with Joseph. With a little help from Shakespeare, a Southern beauty queen, and Cupid himself, romance is striking all over Bramble. My favorite part in the book was when Willa finally goes to the dance with Joseph. So, read The Cupid Chronicles to find out if Willa saves the Bramble library.

EYES OF THE EMPEROR By Graham Salisburg

Can you believe that in World War II Japan bombed the U.S.A.? Japanese soldiers who just joined up with the military were treated differently, afterward. 16-year-old Eddy Okubo joined the military. My favorite part was after Eddy joining the military and here it is when Eddy and his friend, Cobra, were assigned to check if Japanese soldiers would come up from the water and when they thought that a dark figure was a soldier they shot and in the morning they saw that it was a cow, it was hilarious. When they told Lt. Sweet he was laughing his head off and told them “I guess it was just a rumor.” When he told his father that Eddy joined the military, his father did not talk to him for several days. When Japan attacked the U.S.A, Eddy had to go to his post. When he did, Lieutenant Sweet told his partners, Cobra and Chik, to go to rest up and he would tell them what to do next morning. When they woke up Lt. Sweet told them that they had a secret mission that only the Japanese could do. Will the Japanese soldiers survive the mission or not?

His children don’t really enjoy spending time with the Baudelaire’s. After a few days with the executor, his children, and the three Baudelaire’s had to move with their Uncle who they did not know. They were up to a shocking surprise. My favorite part is when the three Baudelaire’s had to move with their uncle whom they never heard about. They came to a shocking surprise. Will they survive the new house with their unknown uncle? You will have to read The Bad Beginning to find out if the bad beginning has a bad ending. It’s tempting I know.

CADDIE WOODLAWN By Carol Ryrie Brink

Back in 1864 a quiet young girl by the name of Caddie Woodlawn was 11 years. She and her two brothers Tom and Warren managing the woods they own on western Wisconsin. Caddie felt that the outside farm work was meant for her. When winter came people in Woodlawn knew that it was time for the Indians to come and try to kill all white people. Caddie had wanted a change between the American and Indian’s. All Americans from the east would come and stay at their town. Caddie’s mom would cook for all those people. She tried to get to the Indians before dad did. She went to their town and warned the tribe to run “my father is coming to get you!” This was my favorite chapter. Caddie had seen that the Indians were good people and the only way she could stop the massacre scare was to make peace with these people. Caddie was so brave to go approach an Indian by the name of John. To find out how this conflict is resolved read this true story based on a story written by Caddie’s granddaughter

EAGLE STRIKE By Anthony Horowitz

This is the breath-taking story about a kid named Alex. Unlike most 14-year-old boys he worked for M16 a secret spy organization. One day his friend’s father gets in a car "accident", at least, that's what everyone thought. Alex knew it was Damian Cray, a famous pop star, however no one believes him. He soon finds out that Damian has come up with an evil plan known as, “Eagle Strike”. Now Alex has to do whatever it takes to expose him. My favorite part was when Alex get caught and put in a video game. Unlike a video game, he has no second chances. He is now battling for his life and losing. We he survive and stop Damian? You will have to read the book to find out.

THE MONUMENT by Garl Paulsen

If you like drawing or writing this is a great book for you to read! This book is about a girl named Rachel, A.K.A Rocky, who was living in an orphanage. She would always hope that someone would adopt her. She waited and waited. She knew the reason why she didn’t get adopted was because of her color and her stiff left leg. My favorite part of this book was when Rocky met a dog that would always chase the chickens in the coop. She asked her mom and dad to keep him and they said ‘”Yes”. She named him Python. When I started to read this book in the beginning it was boring but then when I kept reading it was getting good. I recommend this book to 6th graders because it’s a fun and loving book. If you want to find out what happens to Rocky ask Miss Brooker for a copy or get it from the media center. I’m sure you will love this book like I did!

THE SEIGE By Kathryn Lasky

If you love fantasy and action adventure, then you will love The Siege, the fourth book in a series by Kathryn Lasky. The author does a great job combining fiction and factual information about owls that I guarantee that you will be hooked on the series just like I was. Soren and his gang are back in this action packed adventure, as he now must help protect the Great Ga’Hoole Tree from the Pure Ones lead by Soren’s evil brother Kludd and his mate Nyra. My favorite part was the ending, when Soren had to fight his evil brother Kludd. I liked it because it was the most suspenseful, dramatic, and action packed event in the book between the fighting, the situation, and the outcome of the battle was riveting sending shockwaves through my brain. The siege has begun, and there will be plenty of blood and death before the end of the siege. A traitor is among the guardians of the great tree and the final battle is about to begin between good and evil and brother vs. brother. The fate of entire Owl world rest in the hands of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole and Soren and his gang. Will good prevail or will evil destroy the entire owl world? Read the Siege and be immersed into this fantasy world full of action and adventure.

A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS: THE AUSTERE ACADEMY By Lemony Snicket

Would you believe an evil man would take money from three homeless children? The book I read is A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Austere Academy. In this book there are three orphans, 14 year old Violet, 12 year old Klaus, and 1 year old Sunny Baudelaire. They all have to live in a boarding school, but they are not allowed to live in the dormitory. One day along came two other orphans who have to live with them in the Orphans’ Shack, the Quagmire Triplets, Isadora, Duncan, and Quigy (who past away when he was born.) Then along came the evil man Count Olaf. Count Olaf disguised himself as a gym coach named Coach Genghis and tried once more to steal the Bauldelaire fortune. Coach Genghis put them through horrible S.O.R.E (Special Orphan Running Exercises) all night that caused them to be tired. After nine days of S.O.R.E the Quagmires came up with an idea to disguise themselves as Klaus and Violet, so that Klaus and Violet can study for their exams while the Quagmires run their laps. So the next day, after dinner the Quagmires took the Bauldelaire clothes and put them on so they could look like the actual Bauldelaires. If you want to know how this plan works out read the book A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Austere Academy.

MIRACLE ON 49TH STREET by Mike Lupica

Can you believe this? A 12-year-old girl named Molly Parker’s mom died and now she is living with her mom’s friend and her family. Molly didn’t know about her dad until she found the notes that her mother wrote to her about her father Josh Cameron before she passed away. Molly is determined to find him and convince her dad, a NBA superstar for the Celtics, that she is his daughter. Josh Cameron only has two things in his life, basketball and himself. Molly tries to become a part of his life before she and her new family moves to California. My favorite part in the book is when Molly Parker hides in Josh Cameron’s truck to talk to him for the second time. She chose to do it that way because that was the only way she could talk to him in peace and quiet and so the media wouldn’t see them. Will Josh Cameron believe he is Molly’s father? Or will he still have room for only two things in his life, basketball and himself?

Now he is a cabin boy wanting to go home, although he is in Mexico with Captain Gallows on a mission. My favorite part was when the Giant Rat of Sumatra finally joins the war at sea against the American warships. The ship had lost the battle against the American warship and Mexico’s flag was replaced with the American flag and is now under American laws. Also, Captain Gallows realized that one of his friends was about to break the law and now they are racing against time. I’m not going to tell the ending. If you want to know what is going to happen read the book.

GREGOR THE OVERLANDER By Suzanne Collins

How would you feel if you were sucked in through a vent and landed in a mysterious place where humans dress old fashioned, and cockroaches, spiders and rats were taller than you? Gregor finds out when he and his little sister Boots fall through a vent in the basement of their apartment building. When they land they find themselves in a place called, “The Underland”, and they were seen by a group of giant crawlers. The humans of “The Underland” have developed a city called Regalia. The people of Regalia do not meander outside the city for the fear that their archenemies, because the gnawers will attack them. The city of Regalia welcomes Gregor and Boots and gives them a place to stay; though Gregor accepts their hospitality, he wishes to go back to “The Overland.” He tries to escape and is outside the city when rats catch him, but luckily the people of Regalia save Gregor and Boots and kill two of those rats. My favorite part is after he is rescued, Gregor is shown a very special object, The Prophecy of Gray, this prophecy says that a warrior will come and lead Regalia in a war between the gnawers. The city of Regalia believes that Gregor is the warrior, and that he will have to befriend the crawlers, the spinners, and one gnawer to be on Regalia’s side, as the prophecy states. To find out how Gregor and Boots plan to save the city and rescue their father and get him back to the Overland, read Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins.

THE GIVER By Lois Lowry

Have you ever wondered what lived outside of your world? In The Giver, Jonas lives in a strict society; and everyone has their own role in the community, which is assigned to them by the Chief Elder. In the community, everything is perfect; nobody can mess up because there are no choices to make. When Jonas becomes a twelve with all of the other elevens, he is singled out to be the Receiver, which requires special training from the Giver. Years and years ago, the community decided that ‘Sameness’ was the best for them; that’s why everything is alike. Only the Giver holds the memories that make up our society; pleasure, joy, color, animals, snow, sunlight, and true pain. Jonas’s job is to receive these memories from him so that some day, he can advise the community, just like the Giver does. Jonas realizes that the memories he receives are what make up society in ‘Elsewhere’, and he wants to go there to see it for himself. But when Jonas starts to receive agonizing memories, he understands why this job comes not only with great honor and respect, but also deep pain. Some pains are physical, and some are emotional, but both create such misery that is unexplainable. My favorite part was when Jonas secretly gave away a memory to Gabriel, one of the community’s new-children, to stop him from crying and disturbing him during the night, because Jonas offered to have Gabriel in his room, to give his mother and father a break. Will Jonas stick with the job, or leave his community to suffer?

THE SECOND SUMMER OF THE SISTERHOOD by Ann Brashares

I have just read the coming of age novel The Second Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares. This story follows the further adventures of lifelong best friends Lena, Bridget, Carmen and Tibby in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” where a pair of jeans seemed to fit each one of them perfectly and brought each of them an adventure when in their possession. In this installment the girls continue to share the pants and believe that adventures happen because of the pants. Carmen tries to find her true love but instead it is her mother who finds love and is now distracted, leaving Carmen even more on her own and more needing of her friends. Lena gets a summer job and tries to forget about Kostas, the boy she met last summer in Greece, but each time she wears the pants she remembers the amazing summer that they had and longs to see him again. Bridget goes to see her maternal grandmother who her father, for some reason does not trust, so he has kept her and Bridget separated. Tibby is trying not to fall for a guy that she meets at a summer college program on filmmaking. A favorite moment is when all the girls reunite at the end of the summer and spend the whole night talking about their summer adventures. When they leave the room to go downstairs, the girls see their moms laughing and giggling just like them. They know that their friendship will last their whole lives just like their moms. Although the girls had to face new problems they all managed to keep their friendship strong, proving that no matter what happens, your true friends will always be there to pick up the pieces when you fall. The moment is interrupted by the sad thought that one mom is missing from the group.

BIG WIN by Caleen Murtagh

Try to imagine having a mean brother, and a dad that loves that mean brother, a mom who is a drama queen, and even a neighbor who is a psycho. In the book Big Win that is Mack McGinnis life. He is desperately trying to impress his dad lately but is losing out to his brother. A pretty funny part was when he had a huge water balloon fight with his friends inside the house. The whole house, which they just bought, was a wet mess and it was his entire fault. He had to clean the whole house till it was sparkling clean. He had a bad day that day, but it was all going to change on the third Saturday in November, the day of the annual Turkey Trot in Danville Day. Will Mack McGinnis win, or lose to his brother again? READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT.

PAINTING THE BLACK by Carl Deuker

The book I read was Painting the Black by Carl Deuker. "What was going to happen next? That was the question that was going through my mind. “What was going to happen next?" This quote was my favorite part of the book because it gave me a sense of suspense and made me not want to put down the book. Ryan, a senior in high school, was repeating this question in his mind after he witnessed his teammate, Josh, attacking another girl from their school in a dark music room after the bell rang. Josh and Monica were always going through verbal battles that had led up to this. The final straw was when Monica printed an article that basically compared Josh to a dog in a magazine that she's the manager of. Josh and Ryan were friends and teammates on the school's almost undefeated baseball team. So after Ryan saw what Josh did he was facing the dilemma of what was going to happen next. If Ryan rats Josh out he causes the team to lose a trophy they've been wanting for years, but if he keeps quiet he could live with eternal guilt for not helping Monica punish her attackers.

JOY SCHOOL by Elizabeth Berg

If you like a story with many surprising twists then Joy School by Elizabeth Berg is the book for you! This is the story of Thirteen-year old Katie whose life is far more superior than she thinks it is when she moves to Missouri with her father. Her mother is dead and she now has to make all new friends while finding a place to fit in. She becomes friends with two girls named Cynthia and Taylor, gets advice from her old best friend Cherylanne, and she gets a crush on a 23 year old guy named Jimmy who works at a gas station. Also in the book Katie and her friend Taylor go to the mall and everything’s on sale because Taylor steals! Whenever she does this Katie gets really scared and she always asks Taylor what she would do if she gets caught? One of my favorite parts was when Cherylanne came for a sleepover. Katie says that as soon as they got to the house they went to the bedroom and shut the door. Katie tells her all of the things that happen to her, like when she had to do some things at the drive in movies and her awful run in with Jimmy’s wife. In order for you to find out what happens next, you must read Joy School!

CIRQUE DU FREAK: SONS OF DESTINY by: Darren Shan

Will the Prince of the Vampires or the Lord of the Vampaneze win the War of Scars? Could there be a possible end to the world? Filled with “Freakiness” throughout, my favorite part was when arch enemies for life, Darren Shan the Vampire Prince and Steve Leonard the Vampaneze Lord, fight against each other to the death. They each knew one would die and the other will lead their clan to victory. A really exciting part was when Darren was exhausted and could barely fight. Using fast speeds that Darren could not see very well with the condition he was in, Steve saw the weakness and he used it against him. But suddenly Darren knocked Steve to the ground. He had his chance to kill him and he wasn’t taking any time to taunt Steve. Darren dove right in, but then he lost control of himself and he fell to the ground. Reading the final book of the Cirque Du Freak series lets you know all the answers you have been waiting to learn. It is without a doubt the best book in the series.

BRIAN'S RETURN

What would you think about a sixteen year-old boy who has no tolerance for technology? Brain hates the things most teens feel they can’t live without: TV, computers, cell phones and video games. He can only feel happy and content when he is living in the wilderness, away from modern life. This book tells the story of Brian’s “Return” to the woods. My favorite part of the book is when Brian is out in the wild hunting a grouse and enjoying the simple life. Instead of polluting the lakes with a motor boat, he uses a wooden canoe to travel over the water. Brian hunts the grouse but not with a gun. Why? Because he believes a gun is a cruel way for an animal to die. He prefers using a bow and arrow because it gives the animal time to react and escape rather than being killed immediately by a gun. He respects animals and nature and used the grouse for food not sport. What challenges will Brian face next?

MIRACLE ON 49TH STREET by Mike Lupica

This book is about a girl named Molly Parker who is on a desperate search to find out who her real father is. Her mom has passed away and she now lives with a guardian. She has a letter written by her mother telling her that her father is the star guard, (Josh Cameron) for the Boston Celtics in the NBA. One day the Celtics were holding a public practice for anyone to see. Molly sees this as an opportunity to talk to her father who doesn’t know she exists. My favorite part of the story was when Molly had a basketball game and she was feeling sad because she thought of her father. She was depressed until someone unexpected came to her basketball game. Suddenly all her depression went away and she cried tears of joy. This gave her motivation to play like an all star. Does she ever find her father? Read Miracle on 49th Street to find out.

PARK'S QUEST by Katherine Paterson

Do you want a book that tells you the answer to all your questions at the end of the book? Then you would love the book Park’s Quest, it’s a story about a boy named Park who wants to find out about his dad because he was dead and his mom will never tell him about him. One day when his mom left he started to read his dad’s book in a special bookshelf for his dad’s books. The first book he read was his dad’s journal which told him everything. Everyday he reads a new book until his mom comes home. In a few days when his mom left he goes to the Vietnam memorial because his dad died in Nam. He can’t find his dad’s handprint so he asks a lady and she tells him. He touched the name in the marble because he made sure that his name was the first he touched. Then he immediately took a bus home hoping that he beats his mom home but he doesn’t and then he has to tell his mom everything and then his mom tells him what she knows. Park now wants to find out more about the past Parkington Waldel Broughton’s? Listen to me, read Park’s Quest to find out if he learns about the past Parkington Waldel Broughton’s.

LEON'S STORY by Leon Walter Tillage and Susan L. Roth

Leon’s story
By Leon Walter Tillage and Susan L. Roth
Almost 50 years ago there was a man named Martin Luther King.He made a big change in history and civil rights. But before that happened there was a lot of racism in the world. Black people couldn’t vote, get an education, and without getting a good education they couldn’t have a successful life. Leon was living then when life was different. He lived in a farm with his poor family. He could have been beaten and no one would have done anything about it. Leon had a tough life. He had to survive and go through different obstacles so he wouldn’t be sent to jail or beaten to death. One of the best parts was when the white kids threw rocks at Leon. When it all changed at last Leon was happy and shared the story of his life with every one. Was he ever sent to jail? Read the book to find out………

GRACE ABOVE ALL by James St. Anthony

The book I have recently read is called Grace Above All by James St. Anthony. Grace and her family were taking a summer vacation to her grandfather’s cabin. When they got there Grace met a boy named Frankie who was staying in the cabin next door with his grandfather and dad. It turned out that Bernadette (Grace’s mom) knew Frankie’s grandfather since she was young. Then one day Bernadette tells her kids (Polly, Pinky, Beth, Grace, and Chuck) about Hilda and Gunda (Hilda is Gunda’s mom and aunt of Bernadette). The kids notice that there is something wrong with Gunda. They are not sure what it is but they do know she is not normal. I would say that my favorite part of the story would be when Grace got the flower from Frankie. Read Grace Above All and find out what’s really wrong with Gunda and how Grace spends her summer.

THE HOBBIT by J.R.R Tolkien

Gandalf the Grey had a plan for Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit (a small creature of middle earth). The Dwarfs were sent by Gandalf to Bilbo’s house to ask him to come with them on an adventure to the lonely mountain in search of the dwarfs’ stolen gold and once claimed mountain by the Dwarfs but then stolen by Smaug the dragon. Bilbo couldn't say NO fast enough. Yet all 12 dwarfs and Gandalf the wizard convinced him and his “NO” turned into a “YES.” So off they went the next morning. But little did they know about all the obstacles that they would face on their trip. They were chased by Goblins and wolves that could speak, met Gollum (a creature that lives forever) and killed (or tried to kill) Smaug . This would be hard enough considering Smaug could only die by being shot by an arrow on one scale and only one! Bilbo was in over his head but could a magic ring he found help him in so many ways it is uncanny? This book was the book for me! My favorite part was when all the dwarfs came to Bilbo’s house telling him all about adventures and people who he didn’t even know existed. They even expected supper and a big one at that. It was so funny to imagine Bilbo running around his house getting all this food! So if you’re interested in Gollum, goblins, wizards, dwarfs, wolves, and magic rings- oh but most importantly if you want to know if they defeat Smaug read The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien.

THE TITANIC by Mary Pope Osborne

The White Star Line Company built the Titanic in the early 1900s. The Titanic went to water on April 2, 1912. This ship had room for more than 2500 passengers. In the Titanic there was a lot food, drinks, coal and a lot of other things. In the Titanic there were 3 classes: 1st class, 2nd class and 3rd class. Most of the children were on the 3rd class. There was a pool, 3 big dining rooms to eat and dance for all classes. When everybody was dancing another ship sent a warning that there was an iceberg. The other ship was sending and sending the warnings. Later the message man sent the warning to the captain of the Titanic, but it was too late. They hit the iceberg and the captain went to the bottom of the ship and suddenly there were 6 columns filled with water. The ship could only hold 4 columns with water. My favorite parts were the diagrams and photos with captions. To know what happened to the Titanic you need to read the book.

BLOOMABILITY by Sharon Creech

Domenica Santolina Doone (Dinnie) has lived in many places in the U.S. with her mom, dad, Stella (her sister), and Crick (her brother). One day when Dinnie was in New Mexico her Uncle Max and Aunt Sandy took her to Lugano, Switzerland so she could go to school there. The problem is she doesn’t want to go. Her uncle was the headmaster there. When she gets to the school, Domenica meets new friends like Lila, Belen, Guthrie, and Keisuke. At St. Mortiz Dinnie goes skiing for the first time with the skis she got from her aunt and uncle at Christmas. There was an avalanche warning when they were there, but the problem was Guthrie was still skiing and was nowhere to be seen. My favorite part was during Domenica’s second time skiing. Lila and Guthrie were racing an avalanche down a mountain while skiing. Domenica didn’t want to ski that day and Belen and Keisuke stopped skiing early, so they weren’t in danger. But Lila fell. Will the avalanche reach her? Will Guthrie survive?

THE LIGHTNING THIEF by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson is a troubled kid who’s about to get kicked out of boarding school again, but that doesn’t seem to be the worst of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters have tried to kill him. He then realizes that the stories of the Gods are true and worse, Zeus believes Percy has stolen his Master bolt and says that if he doesn’t return it by the summer solstice he’s dead meat. So Percy sets out on the thrilling adventure of a lifetime with his best friend Grover and a daughter of Athena to the place no hero has ever returned from, the underworld Hades domain. Percy will have to endure viscious monsters, unaccustomed abilities, and a power greater than the Gods themselves. Percy learns that he is Half-Blood half human half God mother Sally Jackson Father? Hint: GOD of the Sea. My favorite part in the story is when Percy had to confront the God of War, Ares, in a treacherous battle sword to sword because Percy has enough courage to even confront the War God alone and to beat him is“Amazing”. I think this scene taught me a valuable lesson because no matter how big someone is it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stand up for what you believes in. I also like this part because Percy finally realizes how good he is and what he can do and he’s pretty good for his age, and beating the God of war in combat is pretty cool too. Ares had Percy beat 50 to 1 so I predicted Percy was going to get his tail whipped but he didn’t. Another thing I like about this part is how intense it was; I can visualize it in my mind and I saw clashing swords, fiery winds, and a fight for survival. So Rick Riordan’s The Lightning Thief is definitely a go to book. I would recommend it to anyone who’s interested in Greek Mythology.

JIM THE BOY by Tony Earley

Jim the Boy is a great book for people who like happy endings. This book is about a woman named Cissy who lost her husband named Jim. Right after this happens she gives birth to a baby boy and calls him Jim. Jim is growing up in a very confused world and has no idea what has happened to his father. Cissy understands what Jim is going through and everyone is telling her to marry another man. This is hurting Cissy’s feelings because she still believes her husband is alive and thinks if she marries another man he would get mad .My favorite part is when Jim was watching Cissy on a date with another man named Mr. Whitey. Read the book Jim the Boy to see if Cissy marries Mr. Whitey.

THE COLOR OF WATER by James McBride

Imagine living in household with 11 brothers and sisters, a mother with an unrevealed past, and almost no money to get by on. The Color of Water tells a truly inspiring story of a single mother struggling to get by, while still raising 12 children and sending them all off to college. The story told from one of her child’s point of view, tells the tale of an African American child with a Caucasian mother, during a time of revolution and change. His mom only cares about church and making sure that her twelve children have a good education and future. When he curiously asks,” What color god is?” She responds that god is the color of water, meaning that it doesn’t matter the color of somebody’s skin, only who they are on the inside. The mother, Ruth McBride lived by this motto, teaching her children that a little money can go a long way, sent 12 educated children to colleges where they all had earned scholarships. It was amazing that a mother coming home with excess peanut butter from old warehouses could accomplish as much as she did. This was probably my favorite part of the book, the moral. No matter what you have, and where you are from you can be successful in life.

THE HOMEWORK MACHINE by Dan Gutman

Four students bond together over a secret. The secret is the homework machine that they call Belch. The four students are known as the D squad. Brenton the genius created Belch. Sam the cool kid, Judy the worrywart, and Kelsey the slacker all spent a lot of time using the machine and attracting attention. This leads to people being suspicious, such as Ronnie a nosy classmate, Miss. Rasmussen their fifth grade teacher, and Milner the stalker. Belch eventually takes a life of its own. The kids are faced with a decision to make, either keep Belch or destroy it. This leads to a test of their friendship. I had three favorite parts of the book. My first favorite part was when they destroyed Belch. I liked this part because it was unexpected. I also liked when Milner’s identity was finally revealed because it took away the mystery behind him. Finally I enjoyed the part when Judy and Brenton, and Kelsey and Sam became closer friends. This shows that different types of people can get along with each other. Together their friendship could survive any obstacle, can yours?

CIRQE DU FREAK: THE LAKE OF SOULS by Darren Shan

Harkat Mulds, a little person, is plagued by nightmares to the brink of insanity. When he is offered a chance of freedom from the invisible prison of sleep, he accepts it whole heartedly. The offer is made by the malicious Desmond Tiny, and there is always a catch in his deals. Harkat must complete a number of tasks and fight back countless obstacles to find who he was in his past life, and to fish in the Lake of Souls. An especially memorable part was when his best friend, Darren Shan, a vampire assistant, hears the news, and he agrees to complete the journey alongside Harkat. In the strange and mysterious world they are sent, impossible things occur daily, and forces of nature are trampled upon by the many grotesque and interesting creatures. Desmond gives them a list of unbelievable objectives to conquer, yet they face them bravely and with intelligence. Snarling panthers jump out at them, giant toads attack them, pyromaniac dragons engulf them in flames, and a cannibal tries to cut them up. The author tells the story so dramatically that I felt as if I was reliving the story. I yelped with terror as the dragons dove in for a fresh kill; I wept tears of happiness as Darren braved the dangers of the toad and rolled past it. To see if the duos’ prayers of survival are answered, or if their quest to the Lake of Souls is completed, read Cirque Du Freak: The Lake of Souls.

NIGHT HOOPS BY Carl Deuker

Nick and Scott could hear their parents screaming at each other. There was a moment of silence and dad said “Do you want me to leave? Then fine I will.” The next thing they know Dad was walking out of the door, getting into his truck and leaving. It was exactly two weeks until basketball tryouts and Nick and Luke were practicing everyday. But Nick was practicing so much that he wasn’t concentrating on his grades so they fell dramatically. His mom said that he had to get his grades up so that from now on he had to be in at five o’clock. Tryouts were there and Nick’s grades were back up so he was ready to play. Nick made the team and was on the second string. After playing for a couple of games Nick was put on to the third string. The worst thing was that his bully, Trent, was on the third string too. Luckily Nick was able to make friends with him and they both practiced together and both made it back up to the first string. It was finally at the end of the season and the team was at the semi finals. But Trent’s brother was caught shooting someone. If you want to know what happens to Trent and the game read the book Night Hoops. My favorite part of this book was when Trent and Nick became friends because I never thought they could ever be friends and they once hated each other so much.

ALL AMERICAN GIRL by Meg Cabot

Samantha Madison in the book, All American Girl, is getting a D in her German class. She has been caught drawing celebrity portraits the in class which is negatively affecting her grade. When her parents find out about her drawings they force her to take art classes with the artist, Susan Boone. Samantha wants to protest her classes so she decides to skip one of them. When caught skipping her art class, right before her eyes a man with a gun is aiming at the head of the president of the United States. Samantha doesn’t know what to do and she jumps on the man’s back. She is now a hero to the whole world and named Teen Ambassador of the UN. My favorite part was when Samantha was in the hospital with a broken arm and all the sudden the staff comes in with balloons, bears and flowers from presidents and world country leaders all around the world. When the security guard comes in and says “Sorry, the fruit baskets aren’t up here yet they’re still going through security, you never know what people might stick in them” Samantha and her mom looked at each other since the room was practically filled from top to bottom with other gifts. To figure out how Samantha gets through her life being a hero and teen ambassador of the UN, read All American Girl, by Meg Cabot.

A CHILD CALLED "IT" by David Pelzer

A Child Called “It” by David Pelzer is a very emotional book. It showed how the main character suffered through many problems. He was treated as nothing or nobody and is forced to work for food and attention from his mother. David learned that others seem to have it so good. He constantly gave up, felt defeated and that his prayers were never answered. He thought that God had forgotten about him. He was always stealing food from other students so he could eat. His mother would take all the money he made and he did all that work for nothing. The most shocking part is when he was stabbed by his mother. It was sad but it showed that he was in need of help by someone in his life that he did not have. The worst part of this book is that it’s an autobiography. To find out want happens to him you should read this book.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis

Did you love The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe? Well, the next book in the series of Narnia, Prince Caspian, is just as great! Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are on their way to school when they suddenly teleport into Narnia. They appear at a strange castle in ruins, which turns out to be their old castle, Cair Paravel. Soon they are accompanied by a dwarf named Trumpkin, who tells them that there is a new Prince, and King Peter and Queen Susan (the children) haven’t been around for thousands of years. Trumpkin tells the kids the story of Prince Caspian and how he wants to bring back old Narnia and that his enemy is his uncle King Miraz who is trying to stop Prince Caspian from becoming King. Now Prince Caspian, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are forming an army. Will they stop King Miraz? Read Prince Caspian to find out! My favorite part of this book was the final battle between Peter and King Miraz. I like this part because its action packed and determines the end of the story.

If you enjoy reading mystery books, this book is for you! Nathanial is a fourteen year old magician who is asked to deal with a growing resistance movement going on in London. Suddenly there many attacks on the capital and Nathanial doubts that it is the work of the resistance. To find out who or what is behind all this trouble Nathanial must travel to the mysterious city of Prague. It might also mean having to summon the sneaky demon Bartimaus to help him. Kitty is the leader of the resistance and in this book you also get her side of the story. My favorite part is when Kitty and her friends sneak into a store and accidentally set it on fire. So get Golem’s Eye and finish this exciting tale.

SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES I by Holly Black and Tony Diterlizzi

The Spiderwick Chronicles Iwas one of the most mysterious books ever! Mallory, Simon, and Jared Grace moved to a house that was called the Spider wick. Strange things started too happened in the walls and the rooms and in the kitchen. One day when Mallory was in the kitchen s he was hearing a lot of scratching in the walls. Another time was when Mallory and Simon were mad at Jared because he was saying things that were not true. Lastly was when the three children were in the secret library and in the library there was the creature that was doing strange things in the house. Simon and Jared were facing the creature and then the creature was talking to Simon and Jared in a friendly. One of my favorite parts in this book was when Mallory was in the kitchen. She heard something in the wall that moved up the stairs. Mallory told Jared to go to the dumb waiter and go upstairs to see what was going on. When Jared went upstairs he saw a library. He was looking around and he saw a picture with a person and other interesting things in it. When he went to the desk he saw a scary poem. He got scared when there was a scratchy sound on the desk and he heard, “Watch your back.” If you want to know what is going to happen next read the book, The Spiderwick Chronicles I.

Alice, I Think By: Susan Juby

Fifteen year old Alice MacLeod is most definitely in need of some social assistance. After being made fun of on her first day of elementary school, Alice is home-schooled. However, this means she has no friends and has some trouble making friends, but with some inspiration from her new counselor, Bob, she makes the decision to go to high school like a normal teenage girl. This means that making friends, thinking about the future and a new hairdo are without a doubt top priorities in Alice’s new and improved life. However, fitting in is not as easy as Alice thought it would be. She soon realizes, however, that you don’t have to change who you are in order to get other people to like you. In my opinion, the most enjoyable part of this book was when Alice meets a friend. This made me think of my own friends and how I came to know and love them. It made me happy to realize how fortunate I am to even have friends at all. In a way we are all like Alice, trying to fit in but in the end realizing that there are people who like you for who you are inside.

This book is about a young slave girl named Ping and an elderly dragon named Long Danzi. Ping and Long Danzi escape from their cruel master and adventure to the ocean. Ping, Danzi, and their rat friend Hua must take the dragon stone to the ocean before it is too late. Danzi is getting old and hopes the waters of the ocean will heal him as well as the dragon stone. My favorite part in this book was when Danzi and Ping escaped from the emperor and the imperial guards. I enjoyed when Danzi flew over the palace walls and escaped into the snowy white wilderness. If you are looking for a great fantasy book, this is it. So next time you are in the library, check out Dragon Keeper by Carole Wilkinson.

THE RANGER'S APPRENTICE by John Flanagan

The Ranger’s Apprentice is about a hero, Will, who wanted to become a warrior, but instead was forced onto the path of a ranger. In The Ranger’s Apprentice, Will was a 15 year old boy who lived in the regular part of town. This book took place in the Middle Ages. This book was action-packed and had lots of plot-twists that you didn’t see coming. My favorite part was when Horace got payback on Alda, Byrn, and Jerome who were mad because they thought he made fools of them and the battle school. Their plan to beat up both Horace and Will was thwarted by Halt, Will’s ranger master. They were banished from the battle school as well as the kingdom, told to never return. This was my favorite part because this part was a page-turner, it made you anticipate what would happen next, and it also made you want to read. Does Will stay a ranger? Does he have what it takes? Find out by reading The Ranger’s Apprentice!

THE CASTLE OF LLYR by Lloyd Alexander

Castle of Llyr is a very interesting novel about a Princess named Eilonwy of the Royal house of Llyr. She was sent to the Island of Mona to begin her proper royal education. The Princess Eilonwy is in danger. Mysteriously one day the Princess disappears from the royal house of Mona, and Taran’s adventurous mission begins to rescue Princess Eilonwy. My favorite part in this book is when Taran saw a giant creature called Glew on his mission. Glew was not at all harmful to Taran but he showed one cave to Taran to find his Princess. Glew also informed Taran about Caer Colour, the secret place which would help Taran to complete his mission. Will Taran be successful in his mission?

FLUSH by Carl Hiaasen

The book Flush was a very exciting and fun book. It’s about a boy named Noah who tries to help his father prove that a casino manager is dumping pollution into the ocean and killing all sea creatures. When Noah actually proved that Dusty Muleman was dumping pollution with the help of his sister and a lady named Shelly, they closed down the Coral Queen, Dusty’s boat, but not forever. Dusty’s lawyer convinced the judge to give the Coral Queen another chance and to promise that he would never pollute again. When Noah was riding his bike he was stopped by Dusty’s son Jasper and his friend Bull. When Jasper took a few punches at Noah some white hair guy wearing a big necklace stopped him and wanted to talk with Jasper and his friend. This was my favorite part because he was a big help to Noah. Noah thought he was some friendly pirate wanting to help and he told Noah to ride his bike home. Noah was relieved and thought he would go home to a peaceful house, but he was wrong. When he opened the door he saw big dents and marks in the wall. He realized it was his father’s doing because something bad had happened. The Coral Queen had been reopened again because Dusty’s slick lawyer convinced the judge that Dusty would never pollute again if he gave him another chance. If you want to know the rest, check-out the book and find out what had happened.

WRINGER by Jerry Spinelli

Palmer lives in a small town with a lot of bullies. Palmer hated to celebrate his birthdays because of “the treatment” of getting hit in the arm for how old you turned. He also hated his birthdays because every time he got older he was closer to becoming ten and a wringer. The reason why he doesn’t want to become a wringer is because he knows it’s not fair to kill pigeons without a reason. He just doesn’t know how or why people have fun watching pigeons die. The most exciting part was when Palmer adopted a stray pigeon. He named it Nipper because every morning the pigeon would nip on his ear to wake him up. He even got a book from the library to learn more about the birds. If you like this summary read the book and find out if Palmer is going to become a wringer or if he is going to keep the bird and betray his friends. Read the book, I’m sure you are going to like it.

THE SWORD IN THE STONE by T.H. White

Have you ever wanted to sit down and read an amazing book that brought you in an adventure beyond your wildest dream? Well now there is! The Sword in the Stone is that book that includes Wart (Kay’s brother), Kay (a soon to be knight), and Merlyn (an experienced magician). My favorite part was when Wart and Merlyn became invisible to the world’s tallest giant. They saw one of their friends and freed him, but almost died in the doing so. I was shivering throughout the entire time they were on the mission. Wart also had a lot of schooling… how to turn into animals! He learned the history from a snake, the courage from a hawk, and the wisdom of a beaver. However, Wart is going to turn into Kay’s squire and is desperate to get a better future. Will he succeed?

PRINCESS ON THE BRINK by Meg Cabot

Mia is a junior in high school now; everything has gone terribly wrong for her. First she had problems with some of her classes, then her hair is shorter than her boyfriend’s, and finally her boyfriend, Michael is moving to JAPAN! She couldn’t believe it; Michael told her that he had to go because his professor was really impressed by his project. Mia didn’t care at first because she thought it was only for a weekend. Michael then explained that doctors can perform closed-chest surgery on a beating heart with his robotic arm and his professor also told a company in Japan about it. They want to make a real one and it was going to take a year or more. Mia cried and cried. She felt like a baby but didn’t care because she didn’t want him to move. She then thought maybe Michael wasn’t moving to Japan for the robotic arm, but maybe he was moving because he wanted to get away from her. My favorite part in this book is when it’s Michael’s last day and Mia kisses another guy right in front of him! Mia had no idea that Michael was there, but it was too late to apologize. What happens next? Read this book to find out what will happen to Mia and Michael.

THINGS NOT SEEN by Andrew Clements

Hello citizens of Stamford, CT. I am here to bring another novel by the wonderful Andrew Clements to your attention! The novel that I’m reviewing is Things Not Seen. I would most definitely recommend that anyone into weird, sci-fi type novels consider reading this book. The main character in this story is Bobby Phillips. On February 24 he awakes and trudges into the bathroom to take a shower. He looks into the mirror and doesn’t see anything; somehow he’s invisible. Will Bobby find out what has caused his invisibility with the help of his new, blind friend Alicia, her father, his father and the hope of their families? My favorite part was when the CPA burst into Bobby’s room. Mrs. Phillips lied and said that he was sick and would be back in a week or so. This story reminds me of Walk Two Moons by: Sharon Creech. In one part it began to tell the story of Pandora’s Box and how she opened the box and all of the world’s hatred and diseases was released. Sal quoted, “That may be at the bottom of the box there might be a little speck of hope.” Maybe after all that has happened, things might start to go right.

FLUSH By: Carl Hiaasen

In the book Flush by Carl Hiaasen Noah’s dad goes to jail for sinking a casino boat, but there is a reason behind why he did it and he needs his son to help prove it. My favorite part was when Noah goes to the jail to visit his dad. In the jail cell they had a very special father and son moment. That’s when Noah realizes that his father is telling the truth and wants to set him free. Noah is counting on his younger sister and a lady named Shelly, to help him. Do you think a 13 year old, a complete stranger, and an 11 year old can pull this task off, against a very sneaky man? Find out if Noah frees his father from jail, answer some clues along the way and find out one very important family shocker. Read the book Flush and you will be amazed at the results. I will promise you that this book will change the way you read!

Floss is having meltdowns at school because she misses her mom and her so called best friend Rhiannon has turned on her. Her life gets a little better now that she has a new best friend called Susan. JULIE OF THE WOLVES by Jean Craighead George

Julie of the Wolves is a heart-warming story that will make you very sad because of all the things that this character goes through. An Eskimo girl named Miyax makes a journey to Point Hope in search of her pen pal Amy. However along the way Miyax gets lost in the North Slope of Alaska. My favorite part is when Miyax gets lost because I think it shows a lot of bravery even though she did not plan on getting lost. I was very surprised because although Miyax is only 13, she manages to survive with the survival skills her father had taught her. Furthermore, Miyax was not always alone and that is when she meets the pack of wolves. I really thought it was so intelligent of her to be able to skin the furs, knit and cook food considering that she did not even have a compass. I think this book was trying to tell a message. The message is that you can do whatever you set your mind to. Take a rest and sit down, I promise you will not want to get up after you finish reading the book Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George.

A WEEK IN THE WOODS by Andrew Clements

If you like mysteries and the outdoors then this is the book for you just like it was for me. When I read this book I liked the whole book I just couldn’t pick my favorite part. Mark is a rich boy who moved to another house from Scarsdale, New York to Whitson, New Jersey. Now everybody knows that kids don’t like moving to new places after getting used to their old place. While this is happening, at school Mark notices that kids are strange because they wear Wal-Mart clothes and are picked up in cars such as minivans and jeeps while he has fancy clothes and gets picked up with a Mercedes just like his old friends back in Scarsdale did. He also thinks the school is lame because he already knows the things they teach him and the teachers are mean, especially that science teacher, Mr. Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell has more things to worry about than Mark, like the week in the woods he has planned. A Week in the Woods is a Hardy Elementary favorite that Mr. Maxwell plans every year so that the whole fifth grade heads to Gray’s Notch State Park for a week outdoors. But there Mark gets in trouble because he was holding a knife. The problem is that Mr. Maxwell doesn’t know that it is not really his; it is his friend’s, Jason. Now Mr. Maxwell has commanded Mark to go to his van so Mr. Maxwell can take Mark home. While Mr. M is talking to Leon, Mark runs off into the woods and gets lost. Now he has to survive on his own. To find out if Mr. M finds Mark and if everything goes right read A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements.

TRAPPED IN DEATH CAVE by Bill Wallace

Would you believe that Gary’s grandpa friend and family thought he was killed in an accident, but no one knows for sure? However grandpa left a note. The note was about Snake Dancers Cave with its golden riches. Gary found car tracks near were his grandpa was fishing and, the right tire was cut with something sharp, which would make it easy to find who killed his grandpa. So then one night Brian goes to Gary’s house because their parents were out to see a movie, Brian forgot something in his house, but when he left his house he heard Gary shouting, Brian saw a figure taking Gary into a car, and by the time he got there Gary was gone. My favorite part of this book is when Brian and Gary are in a 15 feet pit and thought they are going to die. They gave up on ideas to get out as water started to come in, they got in a crate that was in the pit and they were able to escape. Someone died in the cave with the evil spirits. GROOVES A KIND OF MYSTERY by Bevin Brockmeier

Are you a mystery fan? If you are, you should read this book called Grooves A Kind of Mystery! This book is about a boy named Dwayne Ruggles who lives with his grandfather, the owner of an antique shop. Dwayne has two main friends named Emily Holmes and Kevin. One day, they go to the Thigpen Complex Factory because they want to learn more about why there is a message printed on the potato chip bags and jeans that says, “He’s stealing the light from our eyes.” At first they didn’t understand it until they met Ned Hajimura. He told the kids about what the Spark Transplantation Machine was, and that it was kept in room 422! He also told them that once in a while Howard would ask a couple of people to attend a meeting in room 422, and when they came out they would act differently. By the way, the section I enjoyed reading the most was when I read that Dwayne Ruggles had the ability to read his finger prints, which helped him reverse the Spark Transplantation Machine and give the light back to people’s eyes! One day when the three children went to the Thigpen Complex Factory they got themselves into some trouble , got caught and were locked in room 423! If you want to find out what happens to the kids and what the Spark Transplantation Machine really does and what "He’s stealing the light from our eyes means," I recommend you read Grooves A Kind of Mystery by Bevin Brockmeier.

Sir Simon, the knight, wants to defeat an evil magical ruler named Alastor. In order for the knight to get his kingdom back, and make William and Mrs. Phillips life-size again, they need to steal the other half of the token, by defeating Alastor. Will William conquer Alastor to make the kingdom pleasant again, find the Silver knight and stop Mrs. Phillips from leaving him; to find out read The Castle in the Attic by Elizabeth Winthrop? My Favorite part in the book was when I found out who won the battle between Alastor and William because when I found out the result, my jaw dropped. I was so amazed, that I wanted the author to write another book based on this because I just wanted to keep reading it even though I finished the book. I guess the suspense paid off because the results were superior and relieving; I loved this book!

THE WANDERER by Sharon Creech

How would you feel if you knew that you were an orphan but couldn’t remember how your parents died? This is how thirteen-year-old Sophie, the main character in The Wanderer, felt when she took a long trip across the Atlantic Ocean with her 3 interesting uncles and her 2 bizarre cousins. She faced many challenges, both emotionally and physically. My favorite part was when she kept having nightmares about a little kid losing her parents at sea. Is the little kid Sophie? Would these nightmares explain the puzzled looks on her cousins’ faces when she tells them true stories of a grandfather she has never met? Then her trip takes a turn for the worse when she has to face a giant wave, just like in her nightmares, except this one is white instead of black. Have her nightmares come to haunt her? THE LAST DOG ON EARTH by Daniel Ehrehaft

The book The Last Dog on Earth captured my heart. Every dog around had a disease except for Jack, who belonged to a 13 year old boy named Logan. The health department wanted DNA from Jack so they could cure the other dogs but Logan ran away with him. One day Logan woke up in his father’s bed. Logan did not know how he got there but his father explained the whole thing. When he first saw his dad he knew it was his father but his dad didn’t know that Logan was his son because he hadn’t seen him since Logan was four. My favorite part was when Logan’s dad realized who he was. I would have never guessed that Logan would meet with his father. This book made me think differently about a lot of things. Do you think Logan can survive with his dog or will they both be doomed? Read The Last Dog on Earth to find out.
